Entrenching Tools, Wire Cutters, Shelter Half, and Sleeping Bags
Tool, Entrenching, M-1910, with cover.
Tool, Entrenching, Folding, M-1943, with cover.  Covers may also be found in khaki.  This style of entrenching tool is known to have come ashore on D-Day.
Cutter, Wire, M-1938, with carrying pouch
Tent, Shelter, Half.  Note the khaki color which is preferred, although the later war medium OD green is allowed.  The medium green shelter half also featured triangular end pieces on both ends.  Examples have been found with dates as early as 1943.  Both types of poles are pictured, with the early unpainted hinged poles in the foreground.  (Note:  The perspective of this photo is misleading since the shelter half is rectangular in shape with a trianglular end flap.)
A closer view of the poles, pegs and rope.  The early war, segmented poles are on the left at the top of this photo.
Note:  Both black and white illustrations are taken from a reprint of the August 1943 Quartermaster Supply Catalog.
