Liege, Belgium
September 8, 1944
The photos above were taken on rue de Fetinne (Fetinne's Road) in Liege on September 8, 1944.
There is some question whether the next three photos are US Army Signal Corps photos, photos by Belgian citizens, or a combination of the two.
The bow gunner on a Sherman tank opens fire at a sniper hiding in Englebert's Tire Factory on rue de Fetinne.
The main gun fires, which understandably startles the photographer who moves the camera causing the blurred photo.
The tanks have moved forward, closer to the factory, while "Blitz-doughs" from the 36th Armored Infantry Regiment provide cover from the corner where the tank first fired.
